Within this master class you are encouraged to explore(new) ways to deepen your conceptual and narrative designing skills. In the morning, we will look at works of various artists and designers plus a number of works from the exhibition ‘Earth Matters’ at the textile museum in Tilburg (NL). Many shades of conceptual design will be highlighted. After the first theory and classroom exercises, an individual brainstorm will start with the subject ‘Reïnventing Textiles’, from this individual brainstorm one or more 3d sketches will be further developed individually in the afternoon.

Designer Wieteke Opmeer offers you various materials and methods during this day, but you are free to bring your own materials. It is also nice to bring pen/pencil and paper/notebook to sketch or make notes.

The master class concludes with the discussion of the first(sketch)designs and the materials and methods used. You go home with one or more concept designs or ideas and various methods to independently develop your conceptual and narrative design skills.

This masterclass may also be used for preparation or inspiration for the Design Contest 2017 of the textile museum Tilburg.
